The fifth iteration of Four Blank Walls: Experiments in Sound explores the act of experimentation through site-specific sound and performance interventions at Yusof Ishak House. Devised over the course of eight weeks, each workshop of Four Blank Walls transformed the ordinary space into a small, temporary “lab” — a space for artists to explore, test, and converse through sound, movement, and presence.

Presented as three acts across three days, two artists from different backgrounds and disciplines come together in a short, 20-minute performance of improvisation and exchange, each day bringing about a different duet and a different experience for the viewer. The format is intentionally raw, spontaneous, and unstable — a performative conversation that values process over polish.

Drawing on the idea of thinking within the box – engaging deeply with set conditions rather than escaping them, the programme will comprise of a series of interdisciplinary 20-minute performances, each centred on improvisation and exchange. The format is intentionally raw, spontaneous, and unstable — a performative conversation that values process over polish.
